Inspired by Isaac Asimov's classic science fiction story, Fantastic Voyage (1966), in this image a jet-powered nanosubmarine flies past several red cells as it navigates its way through a human blood vessel. Endothelial cells protectively coat the blood vessel walls, and a large vascular bifurcation looms straight ahead. |
