how to apply for registration waiver

Students who wish to be considered for a scholarship at the Gathering can list their home page URLs, along with up to fifty words on why they'd benefit from (and add to) the event. To list your information, log in to your Nanodot account (you'll need to set on up if you haven't already), go to http://nanodot.org/search.pl and search the Comments (not the Stories) for "Sponsor a Student". Start the title of your post: STUDENT

If selected, you will be informed by email. There is no deadline; you may be contacted any time up to the conference itself. You must be a full-time student (post-doc, grad student, undergrad, or high school) at an accredited school to qualify.

how to select a student to subsidize

Senior Associates at the Fellow level and above ($500+ annually, including dual Foresight/IMM Senior Associates) are encouraged to select a student to sponsor. Simply read through the student list, choose a student, notify the student by email that she/he has been selected, and then register the student using your preferred method, putting STUDENT as part of the name field. This payment qualifies as a donation to Foresight and is tax-deductible in the U.S. to the full extent provided by law. If you wish to sponsor multiple students, contact the Foresight office at [email protected] to discuss whether we can handle more.

how to handle travel/hotel cost reimbursement

Regarding travel and hotel: Unfortunately, at this time Foresight is unable to assist in any way with the processing of these costs. Students requiring that these also be covered should indicate this in their post to the URL above, with a dollar figure and a deadline, if any, by which you need to hear back. Sponsors may then choose to assist with these costs in addition to registration, reimbursing the student at or after the event. Note: Foresight does not recommend that student travel and hotel be charged to sponsor credit cards, nor can we guarantee sponsor reimbursements to students.
