This paper describes the important effect of nanoparticles, especially the quantum size effect of nanoparticles with diameter less than 10 nm, in the biological system for molecular recognition and photoelectric information device fabrication. Monodisperse Nanoparticle of SiO2 down to 10nm and gold less than 10 nm have been prepared by Langmuir Blodgett, Self Assembly and reversed micelle method. Two dimensional array of these nanoparticles could be prepared easily as the substrates for fixing biomimetic film. The enzymatic activity of glucose oxidase have been increased by 100 times after addition of gold particles, and the life time and photorespone current of photoinduced isomerization biological system such as protonated retinal Schiff base and bacteriorhodopsin increased dramatically, showing the very prospective future in this area. Besides surface effect of nanoparticles, author emphasizes the importance of orientation and quantum size effect of nanoparticles in the biological system.
