The environmental problems caused by overuse of pesticides have brought scientists and publics much attantion in recently years. It was estimated that about 2.5 million tons of pesticides are used on crops each year and the worldwide damage caused by pesticides reaches $100 billion annually. The reasons for this are two folds: (1) the high toxicity and non-biodegradable of pesticides and (2) the lack of scientific formulations, i.e. only few percentage of pesticides has been effectively used, many of them either been washed away into soil, revers causing pollution of soil, water resources and fishes or remained on the fruit crop surfaces affecting public health.

Thus, on the one hand, one needs to search the new highly selective and biodegradable pesticides to solve the problem of long term toxicity to mammal. On the other hand, one must study the green (environmental friendly) formulations of pesticides and deveop techniques that canemployed to reduce pesticide use while maintaining crop yields.

In this paper, we report the investigations using oil-in-water microemulsions as a nano-pesticide delivery system to replace the traditional emulsifiable concentrates (oil), in order to reduce the use of organic solvent and increase the dispersity, wettability and penetration properties of the droplets. The advantages of using pesticide (oil)-in-water microemulsions fro improving the biological efficacy and reducing the dosage of pesticides used have also been discussed.
