Generous Foresight Senior
Associate Pledges Matching Grant

Donor Pledges $40,000 Matching Grant

Follow our progress!

A generous Foresight Senior Associate has pledged up to $40,000 in matching grants for new Foresight Senior Associates and increased donations by current Senior Associates. To achieve the maximum match, we need at least 80 new Senior Associates or increased giving by current Senior Associates by January 31, 1997. Donors can achieve maximum tax benefits by making their donations before Dec. 31, 1996, since they will be able to take the deduction against 1996 income taxes instead of waiting a year.

The campaign was a success and all pledged matching funds have been attained by the deadline! Feb. 4, 1997.

How the Matching Grant Works

  • Each qualifying donated dollar earns two dollars from the matching grant, for a total contribution to the Foresight Institute of three dollars.
  • Donations may be in cash or stock.
  • Qualifying donations include:
    • new Senior Associate pledges at any of the four levels of Senior Associate membership
    • increasing a current pledge to a higher level of membership. For example, upgrading your donation from Fellow ($500 annual donation) to Colleague ($1000 annual donation) qualifies the increase ($500) as a donation that earns Foresight $1000 from the matching grant.
    • pledging a second 5-year Senior Associate membership at the expiration of a current 5-year Senior Associate membership
    • any one-time donation of $100 or more
  • Funds for the first year of the pledge must accompany the pledge to qualify for the matching grant. For example, if your current 5-year Senior Associate pledge expires in December of 1997, and you make a second 5-year pledge, the first year's pledged amount must arrive by January 31, 1997 to qualify for matching grant funds, even though it would not normally be due until December of 1997. Donations for subsequent years of the pledge can be made at the usual times.
