The basic problem we kept running into is that AI access today goes through a handful of companies. They decide who gets in, what you’re allowed to ask, and whether your account stays on tomorrow. If they cut you off, throttle you, or don’t like your prompts, you don’t have much recourse and the whole time, your usage is tied to your identity.
So we’re building an alternative where none of that is true. The idea is simple: any provider can sell AI inference, and anyone can buy it directly, paying per token. No signup, no ID, no credit card—you pay with ecash and stay anonymous.
The piece that makes it actually work is that there’s no central platform holding it all together. Providers advertise what they offer over Nostr, and payments settle through Cashu ecash. Because it runs on these open protocols instead of a company’s servers, there’s nobody in the position to block a user, censor a request, or shut the whole thing down. It’s permissionless by design rather than by promise.
That’s the gist of it—open infrastructure for AI access, with no gatekeeper in the middle.
