Matthew von Hippel

I keep my eyes open, seeing what the world has to offer. I’m working as a science communications consultant and science journalist, writing compelling stories about science for companies and the press.

I have a decade of experience in physics research, looking for tricks to make particle physics calculations more efficient and put new ideas on a firm statistical footing using computer code, mathematics, and a healthy dose of creativity. In addition to studying ideas, I enjoy explaining them. I’ve spent a decade blogging to a general audience, getting people excited about abstract math, cutting-edge science, and the lives of those who use them.
