I’m a scientist, author, and professor whose work focuses on helping people thrive with AI and other emerging technologies — without losing our humanity.

As Director of the ASU Future of Being Human initiative, I work at the intersection of advanced tech, society, and the future. Through my books (Films from the Future, Future Rising, and AI and the Art of Being Human), the Modem Futura podcast, Risk Bites YouTube channel, and Substack, I make complex ideas accessible so anyone can help shape better futures.

More broadly, I bring a transdisciplinary approach to the biggest emerging-technology challenges of our time. I’ve advised the U.S. Congress, National Academies, World Economic Forum, and other global organizations — while also reaching wide audiences through my online thought leadership.
