Max Kanwal
Max is a neuroscience and AI researcher investigating how emerging neurotechnologies can shape human well-being. At Stanford, his work spans dynamical systems, predictive coding, adaptive control, and affective computing. His ongoing projects range from designing closed-loop control algorithms for neural systems, to studying generalization in the context of large-scale brain foundation models, to dynamic models of AI alignment and preference change. More generally, he studies how systemic feedback loops between brains, technologies, and incentives influence cognitive trajectories over time. Alongside his research, Max collaborates with neurotech startups, founders, and deep-tech investors to evaluate and roadmap emerging technologies in NeuroAI. His aim is to translate frontier science into practical cognitive technologies and long-term strategies that support human flourishing across individual and societal scales.
