Megan Cansfield is an international risk analyst and aspiring futurist passionate about fostering policy-driven action on complex systemic and emerging global security challenges. Her geopolitics and policy experience spans eight years of analytical and research work across multiple U.S. government agencies as well as consultancies, investigations firms, and NGOs, with a strong background in US-China relations and the Asia-Pacific. In her current position as a policy analyst in Strategic Implementation and Policy Planning at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Megan develops capstone strategic documents and conducts risk assessments and strategic reviews of priority initiatives for the Department to facilitate identification and mitigation of national security vulnerabilities across mission-relevant domains. Megan received her MA in China Studies from the Yenching Academy of Peking University and her BA in International Studies, Political Science, and Asian Studies from the University of Michigan. She additionally completed professional certificates in Management and Entrepreneurship & Innovation. Beyond work, Megan is also an enthusiastic writer and reader of speculative fiction. She is based in Washington, D.C.
