Shuntaro Amano is a postdoctoral researcher working with Dr. Giulio Ragazzon at the University of Strasbourg. He undertook his master study and PhD in the group of Prof. David Leigh FRS at the University of Manchester. There, he worked on synthetic molecular machines and their theoretical analyses, achieving world-leading publications in high impact journals such as Nature, Nat. Nanotechnol. and Nat. Chem.. Then he joined the group of Prof. Thomas Hermans and worked on a novel approach for driving self-assembly out of equilibrium. His primary interest is to realize life-like behaviours by synthetic chemical systems, especially utilizing the Brownian ratchet mechanisms.
