Arushi is the Founder of MonitorMyPlanet.com Initiative, which strengthens planetary defense against near-Earth asteroids using open science, data and communities. In 2022, she provided citizen science support to the NASA Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) mission which led to two peer-reviewed publications and winning the 2023 Young Astronomer Award of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada. She was featured among the top 10 Canadian Newsmakers of 2023. Arushi likes to dabble with science, maths, hardware, and algorithms to solve hard problems for the public good. She has built robots, battlebots, rockets, and rovers and participated in over 50 hackathons, winning many of them, including the 2020 NASA SpaceApps Global Award. When she is not solving astronomy-related challenges, she likes to use open data for civic research and advocacy and regularly makes deputations to local and provincial governments. Arushi is bilingual in French and English.
