The Agent Village: Human-Agent Coordination at Edge Esmeralda 2026

Most AI agent research studies isolated agents, simulated societies, or short deliberation exercises. Timour Kosters from Edge City ran The Agent Village at Edge Esmeralda 2026, where hundreds of participants each received a personal AI agent: a controlled field site for studying whether agents help humans coordinate, or fail in ways that will help us understand how to make agent proliferation in society go well. In addition to Foresight Institute, this project was also a collaboration with Cosmos Institute and Index Network.
