Ashton Trotman-Grant

Ash Trotman-Grant, Ph.D. is a scientist, entrepreneur, and game designer exploring multi-agent simulations and digital biology to drive scientific discovery.

He earned his Ph.D. at the University of Toronto in the lab of Dr. Juan Carlos Zúñiga-Pflücker, where he studied thymic regeneration and T cell development. Inspired by the potential of living medicines, he co-founded Notch Therapeutics to manufacture therapeutic T cells from pluripotent stem cells.

Beyond research, Ash works at the intersection of science, startups, and AI, leading bio-focused investment strategy at Fifty Years and founding Karyo Studios, an AI-powered platform using interactive simulations to explore synthetic biology. His experience in scientific entrepreneurship, deep tech venture building, and AI-driven modeling gives him unique insights into translating cutting-edge discoveries from lab to real-world impact.

When he’s not immersed in research or new tech, you’ll find him cycling new trails or writing speculative fiction.
