Gabriel Kreiman

Gabriel Kreiman is a Professor of Neurology and Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School and a researcher at Boston Children’s Hospital. He is also Co-Founder and CEO of Engramme, a company focused on advancing technologies for understanding and enhancing human memory. Previously, he conducted postdoctoral research at MIT and has held leadership roles at the Center for Brains, Minds and Machines.

He earned his B.Sc. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Buenos Aires in 1996, followed by an M.Sc. in Computation and Neural Systems and a Ph.D. in Biology and Computational Neuroscience from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in 2002, under Professor Christof Koch.

His pioneering research combines neuroscience, artificial intelligence, and computational modeling to investigate how the brain processes visual information, forms memories, and supports cognition. His work uses neural recordings, behavioral experiments, and biologically inspired AI models to understand neural circuits and develop new approaches to human–machine interaction. His honors include the NIH Director’s New Innovator Award (2009) and the NSF CAREER Award (2010).
