Hein-Pieter van Braam
I have a wide range of interests, the line between professional and personal interests is very blurry for me. I enjoy programming ‘system level’ programs, mostly things that users of computers don’t directly interact with. I also enjoy building automation systems to help other engineers do their jobs faster and more efficiently. Some of the things I work on in my spare time include:
* NotABug.org – a free code-sharing site like github for free software.
* GrueLang.org – an attempt at writing a better interactive-fiction implementation system.
* Godot game engine – Fixing various bugs in the engine core as well as many performance optimizations.
* ScummVM – Reverse engineering of DOS game engines. Recently finished reverse engineering the 1990’s era Interplay video format to finish the “Kingdom: The far reaches” engine.
I have a theoretical knowledge base on a wide variety of topics due to things that my spare-time projects lead me. These interests range from cryptography to Linux kernel process isolation features, writing specialized virtual machines, process tracing and more. Most of my prototypes never really see the light of day but the research is very valuable to me.
I have fairly complete knowledge of the GNU/Linux stack which usually leads me to quickly identify and fix problems.
