Jakub Lála

Jakub Lála is a 3rd Year PhD student at Imperial College London working on computational protein design. He is the lead developer of BAGEL, a protein design framework that formalizes protein design as a minimization of an energy function. His research focuses on using machine learning to identify functional protein sequence candidates and validating them in silico through molecular simulations. Jakub has previously carried out research at EPFL, MIT, and the Francis Crick Institute. He was a founding Member of Technical Staff at FutureHouse, where he co-developed PaperQA and WikiCrow. He has also co-founded the AI in Biotech initiative at Nucleate. His broader interests include biomolecular modeling, entrepreneurship, and the science of innovation and progress.
