Jason Alexander

Jason McKenzie Alexander is a Professor of Philosophy in the Department of Philosophy, Logic and Scientific Method at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He joined the LSE faculty in 2001 and served as the Head of the Department of Philosophy from 2018 to 2021. Throughout his career, he has also contributed significantly to university governance, serving as an Academic Governor on the Council of the LSE and as a member of the Court of Governors between 2012 and 2018.

His primary research interests lie at the intersection of philosophy and science, with a particular focus on evolutionary game theory, formal epistemology, and the evolution of social norms. He is best known for his book The Structural Evolution of Morality, which uses evolutionary game theory and computer simulations to model how moral rules and cooperative behaviors emerge within populations. His broader work explores political philosophy, decision theory, and the philosophical implications of digital society.
