Josh Tan

Joshua Tan is a prominent mathematician, computer scientist, and technology entrepreneur recognized for his pioneering work in digital governance and decentralized systems.

He is the co-founder of Metagov (The Metagovernance Project), a global research laboratory dedicated to building governance infrastructure and tools for virtual communities and internet platforms. Additionally, Tan serves as a research fellow and collaborator at world-renowned institutions, including the Berkman Klein Center at Harvard, the University of Oxford, and Stanford University.

He currently serves as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Current AI, where he leads product development, and directs Stanford AO, an incubator and lab for autonomous organizations at Stanford OpenLab. His work lies at the intersection of mathematics, social science, and artificial intelligence, with a strong focus on creating open and public AI systems. Through his various projects, Tan actively advocates for building safer, more transparent, and democratic digital ecosystems and autonomous networks.
