Prachee Avasthi

Prachee Avasthi is Head of Open Science at the Astera Institute, where she leads the effort to build the tools, infrastructure, and practices for a more open and useful scientific record, with a focus on how research is released, shared, and reused.

She has long worked to advance open science, including as former president of the ASAPbio Board of Directors and former director and board chair of eLife. She is also co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Arcadia Science, an evolutionary biology company that mines biology across the tree of life and translates it into new therapeutics. Previously, she was an Associate Professor of Biochemistry and Cell Biology at Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine, where her lab studied how cells build and regulate cilia using green algae as a model system.
