Stephan Ihle

Stephan J. Ilhe is an Eric and Wendy Schmidt AI in Science Fellow at the University of Chicago.

In his research, he combines physics and neuroscience with machine learning. Stephan has received a Ph.D. in electrical Engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich, Switzerland, where he was a Swiss Data Science Center Fellow. During his Ph.D., he was advised by Prof. János Vörös in the Laboratory of Biosensors and Bioelectronics. As a Schmidt AI Fellow, Stephan’s goal is to develop machine learning techniques and promote the use of AI in science, specifically neuroscience.
