Mechanochemistry of Molecular Motors

Molecular motors do what no man-made machines do: they convert energy directly from chemical energy to mechanical work without going through an intermediate such as heat or electrical energy. I will discuss how biophysical and structural studies are providing insight into the mechanochemistry of motors: how they generate force, and, in cells, also sense force.
