Presenter
Ekaterina Ilin
Ekaterina is a postdoc in astrophysics who researches the habitability of planets outside the Solar System. Her studies focus on the space weather of these newly discovered worlds. In particular, she uses optical and X-ray telescopes to observe star-planet systems, and measure how the radiation that impacts planets evolves over their host stars' lifetime.
Summary:
In this talk, we delve into the latest techniques and technologies propelling the search for distant planets. From the transit method to transmission spectroscopy, we uncover how these celestial bodies are detected and what their interior and atmospheric compositions can teach us about the potential trajectories of Earth’s environmental and geological evolution.
