Presenter
Rachit Bhatia, LeoLabs
Aerospace Engineer with research experience and professional expertise on projects related to Astrodynamics, Spacecraft Guidance, Navigation and Control (GN&C), Path Planning, Trajectory Design, State Estimation (Extended Kalman Filter, Unscented Kalman Filter, and other optimal sequential filters), Controls System Design (LQR, PID, Adaptive Controls, Sliding Mode, Lyapunov, and other linear, non-linear control techniques), and Space Situational Awareness. Objective is to continue to develop skill set and use my knowledge to further the growth of the aerospace industry, while contributing towards the development of advanced applications for achieving Sustainable Development Goals (https://sdgs.un.org/goals).
Summary:
Rachit Bhatia, LeoLabs, discusses the importance of space behavior awareness in lower Earth orbit (LEO) and their efforts to track and monitor objects in space. LeoLabs operates a network of ground-based Radars and aims to increase their radar network to improve tracking capabilities in LEO. They offer various services and data products, including collision assessment and real-time alerts. LeoLabs’ unique position in the industry allows them to provide end-to-end space behavior awareness services. One challenge is establishing policies and regulations while creating awareness about their products. Collaboration with other stakeholders is crucial for effective space behavior regulation. Providing data to operators is also important for ensuring space safety. Lastly, there is a vast amount of data and insights available for operators to benefit from.
