Image Description: I use the image of the branching fungus to represent the perfect paradigm of networks and growth through connectionism. This image reflects the idea principia underpinning current research effort in nanobiotechnology. In essence as researchers in this field, we're looking for how to control what grows from the earth, and then provide new tools and a set of suitable, scale-free 'languages' that connects growth and form with function - but of most import - harnesses programmability! For example, the emerging field of Nanobiotechnology offers new ways of looking at cellular interactions. The design of new techniques for fine control of intracellular communication at the most fundamental levels of biological organization will no doubt contribute towards the design of highly efficient, next-generation computational elements.
