Born in Chicago in 1957, Peter Solarz attended Northern Illinois University on a Talented Student Scholarship, earning a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts in 1979.
He joined the publishing staff of the American Dental Association in 1985 and currently holds the post of Creative Director in the ADA Publishing Division of ADA Business Enterprises, Inc., a for-profit subsidiary of the 143,000-member dental association.
The offspring of a creative family (his mother is an artist, his father a picture framer), Mr. Solarz has distinguished himself as a painter, illustrator, designer, sculptor, digital artist and photographer. In recent years, he has immersed himself in the art of computer-based graphic design and illustration using high-tech software to create award-winning covers and other artwork for ADA publications, particularlyĀ The Journal of the American Dental AssociationĀ and theĀ ADA News.
His work has earned Mr. Solarz the recognition of his peers and awards from many prestigious organizations: the Society of Illustrators, Society of Publication Designers, Society of National Association Publications, The American Society of Business Press Editors, Midwest Illustrators Society, Midwest Watercolor Society, Communications Arts magazine, American Artist magazine and the Ozzie Awards.
