National Academies-Keck conference on Designing Nanostructures

Alex Cohen writes "We are in search of active researchers to attend the National Academies Keck Futures Initiative conference on Designing Nanostructures at the Interface between Biomedical and Physical Systems. The Futures Initiative conference provides an opportunity for researchers from different disciplines to focus on new questions in Nanotechnology. The conference provides a means for attendees to build collaborations and exchange ideas. Conference attendees are also eligible for Futures grants, which support interdisciplinary research. Invitees travel expenses are paid for by the National Academies Keck Futures Initiative."

Let the Nanotech Wars Begin!

David B. Hughes writes "The debate over whether molecular manufacturing and nanoassemblers are feasible has turned into a PR war. With billions of dollars of research funding and industrial profits at stake, both sides are taking their ideological clash to the public. So far, Eric Drexler and the Foresight Institute own the moral and scientific high ground. But his critics at the National Nanotechnology Initiative hold the purse strings. And they don't play by the same rules."

Cross-disciplinary perspective on nanotechnology

Imaging and Imagining Nanoscience & Engineering – An International and Interdisciplinary Conference, March 4-7, 2004, University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC USA. "This Conference will explore theoretical, pictorial and textual representations of nanoscale science and engineering (NSE) from cross-disciplinary perspectives, including microscopy, molecular modeling, scientific illustration, philosophy, science studies, art theory, and literature studies."
