Nanotech abstracts and Feynman Prize nominations due July 31

(This version of our conference desciption emphasizes the Research days. –CP)

Researchers doing groundbreaking work in nanotechnology, or who have
innovative scientific results relevant to emerging nanotech, are encouraged
to submit abstracts by July 31, 2005, for presentation at the 13th
        Foresight Conference on Advanced Nanotechnology.

Unlike special-topic meetings, the Foresight Conference series covers
the entire field of molecular nanotechnology, enabling researchers to
present their work in a broader context to encourage new collaborations
and potentially attract attention from new sources of funding.

Also due July 31 are nominations for:
Foresight Institute Feynman Prize in Nanotechnology
        (Theory and Experimental, $10,000 each)
        Foresight Institute Prize in Communication
        Foresight Institute Distinguished Student Award

13th FORESIGHT CONFERENCE ON ADVANCED NANOTECHNOLOGY
        October 24-27, 2005
        San Francisco Airport Marriott Hotel

        RESEARCH DAYS: October 26-27

        Research Chairs:
        Charles M. Lieber, Harvard University
        William A. Goddard II, Caltech
        Hiroshi Yokoyama, AIST, Japan

The Foresight Institute’s first Conference on Nanotechnology, which
pre-dated the National Nanotechnology Initiative by a decade, was
the first comprehensive conference on the topic of nanotechnology.
Foresight sponsored events continue to be the premiere venue for
discussing new and innovative multi-disciplinary research in nanotechnology.
This section of the conference attracts researchers from academic,
government, and corporate laboratories worldwide, and includes papers
from the electronics, medical, computing, physics, chemistry, materials
science, and biology communities. Foresight’s 13th Conference will
continue this level of excellence by providing a forum in which leaders
from all disciplines delving into science and technology at the nanoscale
can present and discuss their most recent results and ideas.

        TOPICS COVERED INCLUDE:

nanodevices * nanostructure synthesis * nanoscale modeling *
nanotubes * supramolecular chemistry * biomolecular machinery *
molecular machines * scanning probes * mechanosynthesis *
        self-assembly * nanosystems * nanomaterials *
        nanosensors * nanobiotech * computational chemistry *

        HOW TO PARTICIPATE:

Authors of Abstract and Poster submissions received on or before July 31
will receive their Acceptance notices by August 31. Abstracts for
oral presentations and poster sessions may be submitted via the web at:

        PAST ABSTRACTS

Past abstracts have included reports on the discovery of transistor-like
behaviors in nanotubes and nanowires, the harnessing of proteins as
molecular-scale motors, and the synthesis of new, functional
nanometer-scale objects using chemical synthesis and non-covalent
        assembly approaches:

        *** FEYNMAN PRIZE 2005 NOMINATIONS – DUE JULY 31, 2005 ***

Now is the time to submit your own research or
nominate a colleague for consideration for the
Foresight Institute Feynman Prize in Nanotechnology.

Two prizes, one for theoretical and one for experimental work,
will be awarded to researchers whose recent work has most advanced
the achievement of Feynman’s goal for nanotechnology, defined as the
construction of atomically-precise products through the use of
        molecular machine systems.

Established in honor of Nobel Prize winner Richard Feynman,
the prizes will be presented at the 13th Foresight Conference on
        Advanced Nanotechnology.

An award of $10,000 will be given in each category to the
top submission selected by the committee.

NOMINATIONS ALSO DUE JULY 31 FOR:

        Foresight Institute Prize in Communication
        Foresight Institute Distinguished Student Award
        Foresight Institute Government Prize
