On Thursday June 25, 11 am PDT/ 8 pm CEST, we are thrilled to welcome you for a salon on Decentralized Decision Architectures as a COVID-19 Response.
We will start with 10-15 minute introductory talks by each of our speakers, followed by a Q&A with all of you.
Brian Robertson: How to deal with the crisis using Holacracy and self-management
The landscape of work has been radically altered by COVID-19 and social distancing measures. For decades, self-managed companies have been navigating the unique set of challenges presented by remote work and staying agile, and many of the lessons they have learned are now broadly applicable to any workplace. In this talk from Brian Robertson, developer of the Holacracy framework, will discuss how self-management in general and Holacracy, in particular, can solve some of the challenges with the current and future crisis.
Tom W. Bell: Ulex: An Open Source Legal System
Ulex, the open source legal system, provides the tort, property, contract, and other rules necessary for civil society, drawn from tried and trusted flag-free sources. Already running in the legal system of the newly launched Próspera ZEDE, Ulex would prove ideal for distributed protocol communities.
Mathan Field: Distributed governance architectures and the DAOstack holographic consensus
Historically, to coordinate large groups of people and point them toward collective action, humans have relied on top-down hierarchies in corporations, governments, and militaries. One major problem with top-down hierarchies is that they contain concentrated points of failure. DAOstack is an open-source software stack designed to support a global collaborative network of Decentralized Autonomous Organizations that run on peer-to-peer software backbones and empower groups of people to make non-hierarchical decisions about shared resources, like funds.
