Tomorrow, Monday, March 23 at 9 am PT (6 pm Europe) we’re kicking off the Foresight Sanity Preserver, a global online salon that runs twice a day to allow people from across the world to connect.
Twice a day (9 am PT to allow Europe & co to join and 6 pm PT to allow Asia & co to join) we meet in this free, online Zoom room.
We have an exciting line-up already: Please save the daily schedule.
Tomorrow, March 23 at 9 am PT:
(this is March 23, 6 pm for folks in Europe & co)
We are honored to have Jaan Tallinn join to discuss COVID-19 and its opportunities for Global Catastrophic and Existential Risks.
Jaan Tallinn is a co-founder of the Centre for the Study of Existential Risk in Cambridge, the Future of Life Institute in Cambridge and a founding engineer of Skype.
A few points we’ll discuss:
1. advocate for countries to establish initiatives addressing major risks like pandemics
2. develop better technical capabilities for global coordination and decision making, e.g. expert networks, prediction markets
3. develop a globally cooperative narrative, e.g. prominent prizes, creative media
After a short interview, you have plenty of time for questions, before we break out into smaller Zoom rooms to make new friends globally over aftershow coffee/drinks.
Tomorrow, March 23, at 6 pm PT:
(this is March 24, 9 am for folks in Hong Kong & co)
We follow suit with the second edition of the salon:
Alex Gladstein, Human Rights Foundation, on Authoritarianism & COVID-19
Matt Bell, Matterport, on Reasons for COVID-19 “Optimism”
Jonathan Cain, Velorum Capital, on The Community Safety Net Fund
This will be lightning talks followed by discussion breakouts.
We hope that in addition to a great intellectual discussion, this will also serve as an opportunity for connection, sharing personally, and making friends globally. Let’s make this a time of more community, not less!
