There are many exciting things happening. Stay tuned for the following announcements & don’t forget to mark your calendars.
Vision Weekend
A gentle reminder to save the date: December 12th, 2020
Join us at Vision Weekend for the unveiling of our new digital community – and to kick-start Foresight 2.0.21!
At Vision Weekend this year, Foresight launches its four Strategy Groups for Flourishing Futures.
Biotechnology: to improve and extend human health, Molecular Nanotechnology: to achieve Feynman’s goal of molecular machines, Computer Science: to foster intelligent cooperation, Existential Hope: to catalyze beautiful futures.
Each strategy group assembles a curated group of scientists, entrepreneurs, and Foresight members. Groups meet online monthly to make progress on each strategic area, stimulated by selected keynotes. Members are invited to deepen their collaboration via our virtual community.
We cannot wait to onboard you into this new program we have been cooking up to foster global cooperation amongst radical scientists, philosophers, entrepreneurs and activists, and to make crucial progress towards beneficial long-term futures with you.
Please reach out to [email protected] to express your interest in being an early sponsor and participate in the design of the tracks.
Foresight In the French Press
Thank you to the French Newspaper Les Echos, for their article tastily summarizing our recipe, in their words “to imagine and promote desirable futures”, “find solutions to contemporary challenges” and “foster a trans-disciplinary reflection on technologies.”
As Foresight expands its global reach thanks to our virtual switch, we are grateful for this opportunity to make our work known to new audiences.
IndieBio’s Demo Day
October 27th – 28th at 10 AM PST / 1 PM EST
IndieBio will be presenting its ‘pandemic class,’ founders who rose to the challenge of building paradigm-shifting companies during the COVID Pandemic.
The selected companies were chosen because they were driven by a mission to improve human and planetary health.
IndieBio’s goal is to mend the gap between science and money and accelerates groups to do just that in just 4 months. They have helped build many companies over the past couple of years and you can read about those here.
Tech Futures 52 Conversation Starters
Submit your ideasby November 15th, 2020
We are excited to announce that Foresight Institute is now officially a partner of this riveting endeavor! This new system will create a deck of playing cards that will catalyze conversations about ethics and technology.
However, they need your help and ideas and in order to do so, please submit a card. Each card will present an ethical question ranging from genetic engineering to social algorithms and so forth.
The goal is to stimulate conversations about these topics rather than telling people how to think about the given issue.
Submit your ideas here, by November 15th, 2020 and receive a free pack of cards when they come out.
Formula Nano
A computational molecular car race to advance molecular design. Formula Nano is the world’s smallest car race. The goal is to come up with the best molecule (nanocar) designed to diffuse on a particular surface like gold.
All of the miracles of nature are accomplished using molecular machines that are a few nanometers long. The project is still in the stages of nanomachine research but in the future, nanomachines may be able to do everything nature does today and more.
For more information about this fascinating endeavor, please visit www.formulanano.com.
Our work is entirely funded by your donations. Please consider donating (fiat, crypto, stock) to help us keep going and grow a global community with you. To collaborate closer, consider becoming a Senior Associate, Patron, or Partner, with different membership benefits.
