Webcast this Thursday on Environmental/Safety impacts

There will be a webcast of the U.S. House Science Committee hearing on “Environmental and Safety Impacts of Nanotechnology: What Research is Needed?” to be held at 10 AM to noon Eastern time. Witnesses testifying:

Dr. Clayton Teague, Director, National Nanotechnology Coordination Office
Dr. Richard Denison, Senior Scientist, Environmental Defense
Dr. Krishna C. Doraiswamy, Research Planning Manager, DuPont Central Research and Development
Mr. Matthew M. Nordan, Vice President of Research, Lux Research Inc, and
Mr. David Rejeski, Director, Project on Emerging Nanotechnologies, Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars

Note that the phrase “environmental and safety impacts” is here used to refer to negative impacts of near-term bulk nanotechnologies, such as simple nanoparticles. Even for these, we certainly hope that the net impact on the environment and safety will be positive! —Christine (Source: ICON)
