4-minute summary of last year’s Vision Weekend
We’re glad to announce that limited income-support is now available for Vision Weekend, Dec 1-2. The goal of Vision Weekend is to curate a group of excellent, dedicated thinkers and doers, who can turn visions for better futures into action. Generally, Senior Associate membership is required to attend this event. To make this event accessible to bright minds who could otherwise not join, we offer the option to waive the membership fee ($250) for a small number of general admission tickets. This is in addition to any discount you may have for the general admission ticket. If you’d like to join but have limited funds, take a few moments over the weekend to apply. Please only apply if you require income support – these tickets are limited.
VISION WEEKEND IN A NUTSHELL
This year we’ll plan grand futures for different technology tracks including AI, cyberspace, blockchains, health technologies, bio & nanotechnologies, neurotechnologies, and space technologies. Instead of reacting to the future we’ll have, let’s focus on making the future we want.
SATURDAY
Join intimate strategy sessions for each technology track with session chairs like Aubrey De Grey, Mary Lou Jepsen, Sonia Arrison, John Gilmore, Brewster Kahle, Anders Sandberg, Anthony Aguirre, Joon Yun, Peter Eckersley and many others (see below for tracks and their chairs). Together, you’ll envision different 30-year scenarios for your focus technology to generate strategies that steer your track away from dystopian scenarios toward scenarios of Existential Hope.
SUNDAY
You won’t be able to catch all tracks, but that’s what Sunday at The Internet Archive is for: Strategists present the 30-year scenarios of their technology tracks, and we’ll mix them together to discuss promising interdependencies and conflicts among them. The focus is on action items for this community: What actions can we take now that are robustly beneficial across a variety of envisioned scenarios? Where can we join forces to make the positive envisioned futures more likely?
