Time flies and now there is only one week left until this year’s Giving Tuesday. Consider becoming a Foresight member or increasing your support to help us meet our $45k challenge grant. You can follow the progress the Foresight fundraising rocket on its journey to the moon here.
To help you get an overview of what we can achieve together this email contains our 2021 progress report, and a 2022 wishlist where you can select from to indicate your goals for Foresight in 2022. We gratefully receive contributions to individual areas — or perhaps you’re the world changer that can fund the entire stack?
With your help we could leverage the new international attention for our work to make a significant difference in the niche area we occupy; spurring long-term progress in crucial technologies for human and planetary health.

2021 was focused on growing high-trust groups in which members are familiar with each others’ work. For 2022, we have funding to continue the groups in their current format. Ideally, we’d like to expand our work in the following areas:
Expand collaboration on focus areas
Expand on the virtual seminars in biotech, molecular machines, and cryptocommerce by adding smaller working groups in areas of common interest requested by participants.
→ Fund professional note-taker and video editor for high-quality seminar capture ($80k)
Tech tree workshop on long-term progress
Host in-person workshops with fellows, mentors, and funders focused on long-term goals. Outputs are technology capability trees, including fundable challenges, for progress on biotech for age reversal, atomically precise control of matter, and secure decentralized cooperation. See this longevity tech tree as a first prototype.
→ Fund generation of tech tree and challenges ($70k), conference organization ($50k), travel ($50k)
Increase support of talent
Double annual fellowship cohort (from 15 to 30 fellows) to offer additional mentorship support for outstanding talent working in biotech for age reversal, atomically precise control of matter, secure decentralized cooperation. Our 2022 cohort is oversubscribed and 50% of group members would be willing to mentor junior talent.
→ Fund fellowship coordinator for fellow mentor interaction and for outreach to increase funnel from universities, institutions, and funders ($70k).
In addition to expanding on our existing groups, we’d like to grow in these areas:
Launch additional technical groups
Neurotech: brain computer interfaces & whole brain emulations
Spacetech: near-term space applications & long-term opportunities
Machine Intelligence: novel approaches for improved AI and computing
→ We have a potential seminar program for 2022 but need a professional note-taker and video editor for high-quality seminar capture ($80k)
Prizes
Set Prizes to stimulate progress in biotech, molecular machines, cryptocommerce, neurotech, space, machine intelligence
→ Fund Prizes in oneeach area ($10k minimum) or all areas ($60k)
Tech trees
Integrate technology trees in each area (biotech, molecular machines, cryptocommerce, neurotech, space, machine intelligence) into meta tech tree with fundable challenges
→ Fund tree generation and outreach to improve content ($70k)
Podcast
Monthly podcast with Foresight Senior Fellows and other leaders on positive futures from tech
→ Fund professional podcast production ($50k)
Gallery
Foresight virtual gallery with monthly exhibitions of NFT art showcasing the work of a Foresight fellow. By buying the art piece, anyone can fund the work of the fellow.
→ Fund curator for NFT creation and exhibition in galleries, conferences ($70k)
Global meetups
Sponsor local organizers across the globe to host monthly xhope meetups for future- positive Foresight community to meet in person, starting in SF, Austin, LA, NYC, Berlin, Paris, London. We had our first Europe gathering in 2021 in Berlin.
→ Sponsor food, drinks, venue costs for local meetups ($30k)
We still have a few spots left for our annual member gathering Vision Weekend 2021, (Dec 4-5 US, Dec 11-12 FR) where we’ll assemble Accelerator projects, Fellows, strategy group keynotes, and the Foresight community to launch our 2022 program.
